This premium collectible tee features a distinctive distressed, cracked, vintage finish that gives it authentic character and nostalgic appeal. Printed on a high-quality Gildan 5000 blank, this shirt delivers exceptional comfort and durability.
Originally embraced by passionate fans during the team's four-season run, this shirt captures the spirit of an important era in Utica sports. The Utica Blue Jays brought professional baseball back to Utica in 1977 after a 27-year absence, playing at the newly renovated Murnane Field as part of an expansion of the New York-Penn League that coincided with Major League Baseball's addition of new teams including the Toronto Blue Jays. Remarkably, during Toronto's inaugural 1977 season, Utica served as their only minor league affiliate despite being in the Class A short-season league, one of the lowest rungs on the developmental ladder.
Now a genuine collector's item commemorating a significant period in regional baseball history. The 1977 team made an immediate impact, finishing second in their division with a 43-28 record, led by players like Greg Wells who hit .339 with 13 home runs and future MLB star Jesse Barfield, who would go on to become an All-Star and American League home run leader with Toronto in 1986. After the 1980 season, Toronto pulled its affiliate from Utica, and team owner Joe Bellino attempted to find a new parent club but was unsuccessful, leading him to rename the team the Utica Blue Sox (reviving the name of a previous franchise) and operate as an independent club in 1981.
