Relive an electrifying chapter in Missouri soccer history with our exclusive St. Louis Storm tribute t-shirt, celebrating one of the city's most exciting indoor soccer teams. The St. Louis Storm competed in the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL) from 1989 to 1992, playing their home games at the St. Louis Arena.
During their brief existence, the Storm quickly gained popularity among soccer enthusiasts throughout the region. Their 1990-91 season was particularly successful, with the team placing 2nd best in the MISL with 32 wins. The Storm initially struggled financially, losing a reported $1.5 million during their debut season, but things improved after owner Milan Mandaric secured local limited partners and the signing of star Yugoslav midfielder Preki (Predrag Radosavljevic). Fan support grew steadily, with the team averaging over 7,000 fans per game after Preki's arrival. By their final season, average attendance had increased to an impressive 10,269 fans per game.
Unfortunately, by 1992, the team's owner lost interest and put his 80% stake up for sale. During this time, most teams in the league were folding, and when the Storm couldn't find a buyer, it left the MISL with only 5 franchises. Since most of the league's owners were unwilling to continue with so few teams, the MISL decided to fold in July 1992.
This t-shirt features our exclusive St. Louis Storm logo with an authentically distressed, cracked, vintage feel that captures the nostalgic spirit of early 1990s indoor soccer. The design appears on the front only, with a clean, blank back.
