Tasty Made T-Shirt - Burger Restaurant Industry Defunct Logo Tee

Wear a piece of Chipotle's failed burger experiment history. Tasty Made was Chipotle's attempt to enter the better-burger fast-casual segment, launching in 2016 with fresh-ground burgers, hand-cut fries, and milkshakes. The concept promised to bring Chipotle's "food with integrity" philosophy to burgers with simple menus, quality ingredients, and the customization approach that made the parent company successful in burritos.

Despite Chipotle's resources and fast-casual expertise, Tasty Made became a spectacular failure that lasted barely a year. The burger concept launched just as Chipotle faced its devastating E. coli crisis damaging consumer confidence, the crowded better-burger segment already oversaturated with Shake Shack, Five Guys, In-N-Out and countless competitors, Tasty Made offered nothing distinctive to stand out in the commoditized burger market, operational challenges executing the concept at acceptable quality and speed, poor unit economics showing the format wasn't viable, and fundamental questions about whether Chipotle should focus on fixing its core business rather than experimenting created quick abandonment. Chipotle closed all Tasty Made locations in 2018 after just two years.
