Akorn T-Shirt - Pharmaceutical Industry Bankrupt Logo Tee
Wear a piece of generic pharmaceutical history. Akorn was a specialty generic pharmaceutical company manufacturing injectable drugs, ophthalmics, and other specialty medications for hospitals and healthcare providers. The Illinois-based drugmaker produced critical generic medications including ophthalmic solutions, anesthetics, and other hospital-essential drugs, operating manufacturing facilities supplying the generic pharmaceutical supply chain.
Despite producing essential generic medications, Akorn faced a catastrophic series of crises that destroyed the company. A failed $4.3 billion acquisition by Fresenius Kabi collapsed after the buyer uncovered data integrity issues at Akorn facilities, FDA warning letters citing manufacturing quality problems and data manipulation shut down production lines, criminal investigations into drug pricing and Medicaid fraud allegations, executive departures amid scandal, customer loss as hospitals switched to competitors, mounting losses and debt obligations, and inability to restore regulatory compliance or credibility created an insurmountable situation. The company filed for bankruptcy in 2020 and liquidated, ending this troubled pharmaceutical manufacturer.
This tee features the Akorn logo with a distressed, cracked vintage aesthetic that marks the company's scandal-plagued pharmaceutical legacy.
